Aylesbury Vale's Mix96 turns 25

On this day in 1994, Mix96 hit the airwaves across Aylesbury Vale.

That means today we are 25 years old!

The station was started to give people living here a voice and provide great music, travel info and, of course, local news.

We have been broadcasting from Friars Square ever since that first day in 1994.

One of the founding reasons for Aylesbury and the wider area to have a radio station was to give the community a voice.

Sir Henry Aubrey Fletcher, one of the people who started Mix, told us we've definitely achieved that:

"I think if you were to turn the station off, there would be a riot because it would unplug people from a significant part of their life."

Superintendent Tim Metcalfe says being able to share what they're up to has helped policing here:

"It's a great relationship, it's great that we are regularly chatting with each other.

"I'm looking forward to building on that and doing more over the next weeks and months.

"We are very lucky, here in Aylesbury, to have such a strong radio station."
