AVDC issue scam warning in Aylesbury

There is a warning that fraudsters are cold calling homes in Aylesbury claiming to be from AVDC.

AVDC is a partner in a programme called Better Homes Better Health that can provide grants towards the cost of home insulation, new heating systems etc for certain people in the community.

However reports suggest someone has been cold calling homes offering cavity wall insulation who is not part of the BHBH programme.

You're being advised to be careful who you let into your home and always check they have a valid ID. 

AVDC are also warning before you allow a contractor to undertake any work on your property always check to ensure that they are registered with a professional body eg. GasSafe for gas boilers, FENSA for windows & doors, CIGA for Cavity Wall, and that they can provide a guarantee certificate.

If you are uncertain about the validity of their ID, you can contact Better Housing Better Health to check whether they are part of the supplier network via phone or email.
