Aylesbury's MP says Buckinghamshire has been asked to bare the pain of HS2 but none of the benefit.

David Lidington has spoken to us after the government decided HS2 work could continue in our area.

He hasn't given up on the idea of an intermediate station between HS2 and East West Rail.

He told us:

"If you're going to have HS2 and the East West Railway, they're going to cross.

"Yet at the moment there is no proposal for a junction between them.

"That seems to me like a strategic mistake."

David also told us he had a meeting with the HS2 Chief Executive, Mark Thurston, to address local concerns:

"I'm waiting for answers from the Chief Exec about the issues I've raised with him.

"About Wendover in particular and the push to have a mined tunnel there to ease the impact on the village."

David added that he is waiting for answers to the questions he raised with him.
