Tring's MP faces vote of no confidence

Published by Charlotte Fisher at 5:58am 28th June 2019.

The MP for Tring is facing worrying times this evening as he faces a vote of no confidence.

Local party members were sent a letter by the South West Hertfordshire Conservative Association earlier this month.

They have been asked to attend the vote of no confidence in David Gauke "on account of his willful obstruction to the implementation of the result of the 2016 referendum."

The Special General Meeting is being held at 7pm in Kings Langley.

Gauke has come under fire despite backing Theresa May’s Brexit deal multiple times.

It follows a similar movement against Beaconsfield's MP Dominic Grieve.

Earlier this month a special general meeting of the Beaconsfield Constiuency Conservatives Association was held and Mr Grieve was asked to apply for re-adoption as their candidate for the next election.

This is all part of the process that must be followed in order to deselect a sitting Tory MP.
