Saying goodbye to Wendover cafe after 13 years

This summer we will say goodbye to a popular Wendover cafe after 13 years.

The Cafe in the Woods first opened in 2006 in Wendover Woods.

Since then it has grown increasingly popular - come rain, sunshine or even snow the doors were always open for a coffee or a panini.

Now, it's all change at the woods after a big investment from HS2.

Wendover Woods Improvements
The plans for improvements that will be ready for use in the coming months

Two years ago plans were published for improvements.

The new car parks have been in use for a number of months and the new cafe will open during the summer holidays, until then Cafe in the Woods will remain open.

Jon and Amy Warbrick, owners of the existing cafe, have said they will miss the woods greatly.

In an update on the cafe's Twitter page they said:

"After 13 years it is time for Amy and I to move on.

"A massive thank you to all our wonderful customers that have supported us.

"To say thank you we will be hosting a free BBQ and Hog Roast on Sunday 14th July from 1pm.

"We’d love you to pop up and say goodbye!"

The Forestry Commission have told us the new cafe is currently being fitted out.
