Car hits man on pavement in Amersham

A car, that was being driven on the wrong side of the road, mounted the pavement and then hit a man in Amersham.

At around 1.50am on Sunday (14/7) there was an altercation involving around 15 people near the Chequers Pub in London Road West.

During this altercation, a blue Volkswagen Golf has driven in to the car park and the vehicle was jumped on by one of the people involved in the altercation.

It then left the car park and travelled in the direction of Amersham Old Town.

The vehicle then returned and was being driven on the wrong side of the road, it then mounted the pavement, colliding with a man.

The victim, a man in his twenties, sustained injuries to his back, chest and head and received treatment at Wexham Park Hospital. He has since been discharged.

Investigating officer PC Emma Card of Amersham police station, said:

“This is a serious incident and we would like anyone with information to come forward.

“The victim, although injured, was fortunate not to have sustained significantly more serious injuries.

“It is believed that the incident is isolated and connected with the earlier altercation in the car park.

“If you have any information that could help us with this investigation, please get in touch.

“It would also be helpful if you were in the area at this time, to check your own CCTV and dash-cam footage.”
