Police are investigating an attempted murder in Chesham after a man was stabbed.

At around 1am today (18th July) a man, aged in his twenties, sustained a stab wound to his leg and a serious injury to his ankle.

It happened in Berkhampstead Road at the junction with Alexander Street.

The victim has been taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

The road was closed all morning as investigations took place.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector James Mather of Aylesbury Force CID, said:

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation and we would like anyone who has details which may assist our enquiry to come forward.

“If you saw this happen or think you have information about this incident, please contact police.

“Anyone who has CCTV in that area or has dash-cam footage that could assist with this investigation is asked to come forward and share this with us.

“The road was closed and has now re-opened.

“We would like to reassure the community that we are treating this as an isolated incident and there will be more patrols in the area while officers carry out ongoing enquiries.
