9-year-old donates to Aylesbury charity after appeal

Published by Charlotte Fisher at 5:22pm 14th August 2019.

After we told you an Aylesbury charity were in desperate need for donations of food, a 9-year-old has stepped up to help.

Elijah Christensen heard our story last week about Aylesbury Foodbank being very low on food during the summer months

So, he took it upon himself to help out and asked Sandman Boxing in Aylesbury if he could leave a box for donations.

After leaving it there for a few days, he dropped off the donations to the Foodbank's warehouse with Sandman Boxing's owner Steve Sandford.

Last month Aylesbury Foodbank saw their demand increase massively, the charity actually gave out more food than they had coming in.

Heather-Joy Garrett is the Operations Manager:

"We find that we get less donations across the summer.

"Demand is shooting up this year, particularly because of Universal Credit.

"So, we're finding it very difficult.

"More food is actually going out of our warehouse than is now being donated on a monthly basis."

You can still donate just like Elijah
