Parents hand over Bucks school transport petition

A petition, signed by over a thousand Buckinghamshire parents, was handed to councillors this morning.

It is in response to the issues we have reported on with home-to-school transport in recent weeks.

Many parents found out at the last minute that their children would not have places on school buses or didn't receive bus passes in time.

We spoke to some of the mum's outside the County Council meeting:

"To have gained over 1,000 signatures in just a few weeks, I think it's really incredible.

"It shows really how much parents are wanting action and a review of this policy at Buckinghamshire County Council."

Another told us:

"We want to resolve this, we want to resolve it together with the council.

"That is why we are pushing to create this task-force, so that everyone can have a say so we have a sustainable, long-term solution for the years to come."

The group and the council are due to meet to discuss what can happen next.

In an open letter back to parents recently, BCC said that an urgent review was underway into what went wrong.

They also apologised unreservedly for the 'distress and inconvenience' caused to families.
