Petition handed over at HS2 meeting in Missenden

Yesterday we told you about a petition, signed by over 2,000 people in Great Missenden, against HS2 work and today it's being handed over.

People living in the village are angry over plans to widen the Link Road.

It came after the decision to build the HS2 Chiltern tunnel portal in South Heath.

Well, today at a HS2 drop-in at the Memorial Centre, residents are handing over the petition to HS2 themselves.

Seb Berry lives in in the village and told us it makes no sense to start the work now:

"I think everybody in the village and the wider community would say it makes absolutely no sense to proceed with a very expensive and very damaging scheme when we actually don't know whether HS2 is going to proceed or not.

"So at an absolute minimum this work should be put on hold."

The drop-in will also detail planned road closures and diversions that are expected to take place from 14th October until mid-February 2020.

People will also be able to talk to experts about the construction of the haul road, view maps and plans of the work and ask any questions.

It's happening from 3pm - 8pm at the Great Missenden Memorial Centre on Link Road today (3rd Oct).
