Wendover man raising money for cancer charity that helped him

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 8:00am 20th October 2019.

A man from Wendover is taking part in a fundraising event for Lymphoma Action just weeks after completing three years' worth of treatment for cancer.

Tom Brooks was only 26 when he was diagnosed with lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer in the UK and the most common cancer in teenagers and young adults.

He completed his last round of chemotherapy at the end of September, and is now looking forward to taking part in the Muddy Mutts sponsored dog walk in Wendover Woods today (20th Oct) to raise money for Lymphoma Action.

They're the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by lymphoma and are based in Aylesbury.

Tom told us:

"Being at home on my own for most of my treatment, I only had my dog to turn to for comfort.

"Unfortunately my dog of 12 years, Jess, passed away, but I now have Beanie who will be taking part in Muddy Mutts with me.

"I love the idea of an event that involves dogs, as I think animals can be a great help for people going through life changing circumstances.

"Taking part in this walk is a chance for me to give something back after a very difficult time."

Lymphoma Action are here to make sure everyone affected by the condition receives the best possible information, support, treatment and care so that no one has to face lymphoma alone.

There is still time for dogs and their two legged companions to join the Muddy Mutts sponsored dog walk.
