Aylesbury Waterside Theatre take over ParkRun

Staff from Aylesbury's Waterside Theatre have helped to encourage runners over the weekend.

From marshalling to barcode scanning, time keeping to announcement-making, the team donned their hi-vis jackets to welcome over 200 runners to the weekly Park Run event.

Twenty eight runners recorded new personal bests and the event was particularly special for Theatre Director Lee Duffy.

Lee volunteered as Tail Walker, the position that involves walking at the back of the pack ensuring every participant safely makes it around the 5km course.

This was one of Lee's final training walks as he counts down to walking the Great Wall of China for Florence Nightingale Hospice as part of the team embarking on their 30th anniversary challenge.

Lee said of the event:

"It was great seeing the community come together to do a spot of early morning exercise, and a fantastic team building event for the theatre team.

"We enjoyed supporting the runners and walkers and hope to volunteer again soon."

The runners were encouraged through the finish line by theatre dog Ted and enjoyed a homemade gingerbread star on completion, a nod to the venue's forthcoming festive show, Nativity! The Musical.
