New A41 traffic lights being switched on

After months of work, new traffic lights will be switched on in Aylesbury tomorrow (Weds).

The signals at the New Road junction on the A41 have been updated for access to the new development being built by Taylor Wimpey.

Earlier in the year, the roadworks here caused chaos for several weeks.

Now the new, permanent, traffic light system on the A41 at the New Road junction is due to be turned on and tested in-situ on Wednesday 4th December 2019.

Traffic signal poles and ducting will be installed by Wednesday 4th December, ahead of the switch-on. Minor works, including the surfacing of footways, will be completed by the end of January 2020.

Should there be a need for any remedial works to the junction, these will be carried out in January 2020, subject to agreement with Buckinghamshire County Council and Transport for Buckinghamshire.

A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey and Buckinghamshire County Council said:

"We would like to thank residents and road users for their ongoing patience and understanding as we have been carrying out these necessary improvements.

"During the installation of the new traffic light system, we anticipate that there will be some delays to road users and would advise allowing more time for journeys on this route. We will be working closely together to do all we can to keep disruption to a minimum and would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause."
