Buckingham Park community christmas lunch in danger

Buckingham Park Community Centre have arranged a Boxing day lunch.

After regulars asked whether the centre would be open assistant manager Luke decided to put on the event.

The lunch is there for people who may be spending the holiday season alone and those who cannot travel.

"Its always a nice place to meet people of similar mindsets, its not a formal event. You don't need to have a skill. This was just so you had something to look forward to on boxing day it could help you get through that tough time.

"It's well known there are people spending Christmas alone and we just wanted it to be something to look forward to."

The Bukcingham Park Community Centre is there for all locals, and if there are families that want to get involved or bring relatives they are welcome to.

Luke wants the event to bring people together and hopes it will become a regular thing:

"If it went well we would be more than happy to hold multiple events in the year, it dosen't have to be for Christmas. If people make it known its something they would come to the we could make it a quarterly event.

"We just want to give back as they say."

Sadly, low numbers have put the event in danger.

If you or anyone you know might be interested then visit their Facebook page, or give them a call.

Tickets are £2 and that includes hot drinks, a buffet meal, cakes and more.

Although aimed at the elderly and those alone at Christmas, the Community Centre wants to support all locals and everyone is welcome.
