Bucks MPs write to PM on HS2

Buckingham and Aylesbury's MPs are amongst 20 who have written to the Prime Minister about HS2.

Greg Smith and Rob Butler, along with Chesham and Amersham's Cheryl Gillan, want a meeting with Boris Johnson to discuss their 'significant concerns'.

The HS2 Review Group has been reformed, made up of new and old MPs who are not happy with the project.

Their open letter says:

"We need to restore public trust in the process of government and the way we spend taxpayers' money.

"HS2 is widely seen as a project that is beset by problems, consistently running over time and budget."

It goes on to say that the business case is weakening and that there are concerns about the review going on into HS2, as it is chaired by someone who used to work on the project.

The letter calls for a look at alternatives, to bring investment to other infrastructure projects.

It's hoped the group will meet with the Transport Secretary on 7th January and they ask the PM to see them after this.
