Bucks Adult Learning rated 'Good' by Ofsted

Buckinghamshire Adult Learning is the main provider for part-time learning in the county.

Oftsed's recent inspection rated the services as 'Good'.

The programme was praised for its positive impact on learners as well as the hard work from leaders, managers and tutors.

Inspectors reported:

"Learners develop positive relationships through their participation on adult learning programmes. Single parents and newcomers to the county value the social networks they create on family learning courses. As a result, many learners progress together as groups onto new courses."

The report also highlighted that learners with high needs have excelled in newly developed internship programmes with the local hospital and a large hotel chain.

There were suggestions on how to improve the programme.

Ofsted highlighted the need to enforce high expectations of attendance from its learners.

Leaders and managers have also been advised to accelerate their plans to change the use of the community leaning funding.

This is received from central government and the new plans will help a greater proportion of disadvantaged adults.
