Plans revealed for RAF Halton's redevelopment

Plans for 1,000 new homes on the RAF Halton site have been revealed.

These houses, a new primary school and village square would be part of a redevelopment of the site, just outside Wendover.

The military move out are set to move out completely by 2025.

It is part of a project to downsize the MoD's estate and save money, announced in 2016.

RAF Halton Plans
The emerging masterplan for RAF Halton

After a consultation last Spring, an 'emerging masterplan' has been put together and released on the Government's website.

Their ideas cover 82 hectares of the 298 hectare site and include:

  • respecting and enhancing RAF Halton’s rich heritage
  • opening up the site to improve public access and to enhance links with the wider area
  • delivering a range of new homes to meet the needs of the wider community
  • creating a sustainable community with new facilities, including a primary school and local centre, that can be enjoyed by the wider community too
  • creating a masterplan inspired by the landscape and providing access to green spaces on the edge of the Chiltern Hills and Wendover Wood
  • providing the infrastructure for enhanced public transport in the area and improving existing roads and junctions

Proposals show a heritage trail looking at the history of the site and lots of green space.

This is designed to fit in with AVDC's Local Plan and will be reviewed along with the final document.
