E-fit released after 'distraction burglary' in Amersham

A woman has been the victim of a distraction burglary in Amersham

Between 6pm and 6.30pm on Monday (13/1), the victim, a woman in her eighties, let a woman into her property after they claimed to be from British Gas and wanted to check her meter.

The victim did not leave the woman alone in the property, and had a fall whilst the woman was there. The woman helped the victim up and then left the property.

Nothing was stolen from the property. However, after the woman had left the property, the victim contacted British Gas and was told that they had not sent anyone to check her meter.

The woman is aged in her forties or fifties, was wearing black clothing and spoke with a local accent.

Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Emma Calow, based at Amersham police station said:

“I am releasing this e-fit and appealing for any witnesses who may have seen a woman matching this description in the area at the time, or anyone who had a similar visit from this woman to get in touch.

“If you have any information that can help our investigation, you can make a report online or call 101 quoting reference 43200015163.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
