Bucks charity highlighting plastic waste

Buckinghamshire charity Florence Nightingale Hospice's display is dividing locals.

Most charity stores show the lovely items available to buy, but their Winslow store has gone against the norm.

The window display is made up from plastic bags that have be brought and and left from people donating things.

The team want it to make people to think about the issue of plastic waste but it's been met with mixed reactions from locals.

Some have praised the creativity used and are pleased they are doing what they can to raise awareness for the issues.

Others say it is an eyesore and a waste of the sales space.

It fits with the wider plan for the charity though, as they aim to go plastic free in 2020.

Sybil-Jane, Shop Manager, said:

“This means we will stop using kimble tags, the pricing guns, sellotape, cellophane, curling ribbon etc. This is changing everything we do operationally, and is actually incredibly difficult to do while still running an effective retail outlet.”

Having spent weeks building up the display, there is expected to be a grand finale tomorrow before returning to the usual set up.
