Extra £576k to tackle rough sleeping in Bucks

An extra half a million pounds is being given to Buckinghamshire to help end rough sleeping.

£576,000 has been handed out from the government's Rough Sleeping Initiative.

They are aiming to create 6,000 bed spaces and 2,500 jobs across the UK.

This announcement is part of the work that the Government is doing to honour their manifesto commitment to end rough sleeping by the end of this parliament.

Chesham & Amersham MP, Dame Cheryl Gillan, commented:

"This announcement from the Government is an important stepping stone in ending the blight of rough sleeping.

"While there is more to be done, such as examining the case for repealing the Vagrancy Act, I believe that this funding is crucial to carry out important work in Chesham and Amersham to enhance services that connect people with the right support and get people off the streets."

Dame Cheryl has written to the Local Authority for details on how much of this funding will be allocated to the constituency and which local areas and services will benefit specifically.
