A big fallout at Tring Athletic has ended with the sacking of the 1st team manager and some players.

They put a statement on Twitter this morning saying the removals are because of a 'hostile attempt to takeover the running of the club'.

In their statement they said the takeover was attempted by a group of individuals, including some former committee members.

The sacked manager Kevin Christou has also tweeted saying the news is hard to take.

In his statement Kevin Christou said:

It's with a sad heart that I inform you I have been sacked as the 1st team manager of Tring Athletic.

This has been done by a current committee who have no ambition to achieve promotion.

Over the last few months I have had the playing budget cut by half which myself and the players accepted and continued to work hard, there have been times when the players payments were not made to them payments been paid late and efforts to stop achieving the aims set out to us at the start of the season.

Kevin Christou was appointed as manager of Tring in June 2019, the club currently sit second in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.
