Attempted robbery of teens by gang in Leighton Buzzard

A large groups of teens attempted to rob the two boys in Leighton Buzzard on Saturday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the attempted robbery outside Co-op on Brooklands Drive, Leighton Buzzard just after 9pm on Saturday (22/02).

Two 17 year old's were waiting for a friend outside the shop when they were approached by a group of 10-15 teenage boys. 

The victims were told to empty their pockets but refused, one boy was then punched in the face three times.

The other tried to get way but was dragged back and punched in the back of the head, before being knocked over by one of the teenagers on a bike. 

Eventually a resident scared the group away. 

The offenders are described as follows:

  • Wearing dark clothing, some with hoodies
  • Some wore facial coverings
  • Believed to have Irish accents
  • Two or three were on bicycles

Detective Sergeant Ryan Barnes said:

“This was clearly a terrifying ordeal for the young victims involved. We urge anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward, as we will not tolerate youths terrorising others.

"It was a busy Saturday evening in Leighton Buzzard and there must have been someone who saw something.”
