£170m fund for infrastructure in Aylesbury

Published by Dan Gooding at 5:54am 12th March 2020.

Aylesbury is getting £170m to put towards new infrastructure.

The fund was announced as more details emerged from yesterday's budget.

Like many in the town, Aylesbury's MP has been calling for better infrastructure and he expressed his delight at the news:

"I am absolutely delighted that the Chancellor has approved Aylesbury's Housing Infrastructure Fund bid for £170 million, after I stepped in to press the case for the town to get financial support for its development.

"I know how crucial this money is to fund much-needed projects in the town and that it has been long-awaited by the people of Aylesbury since first being proposed in 2017.

"That's why I made it an early priority to persuade both housing and Treasury ministers to push the bid to top of the pile and enable the money to be released."

Rob said that this money will be a huge boost for the town, paying for improvements to our roads, the creation of walking and cycling routes and providing new school places.

The MP continued:

"As I stressed in my election campaign, people already living in Aylesbury must benefit from better roads and infrastructure when housing development takes place. This money will go a long way towards redressing the infrastructure gap.

"Today's successful bid is just one part of an enormous investment in infrastructure announced by the Chancellor in his budget."

Also announced in our area:

  • £94.6 million for the ‘Milton Keynes East Sustainable Urban Extension’ Housing Infrastructure Fund bid. This will support a range of infrastructure improvements to unlock up to 5,000 homes across 3 sites;
