Aylesbury pharmacy fundraising for the elderly during pandemic

A Buckinghamshire pharmacy is asking for donations to support the elderly.

Lloyds pharmacy in Jansel Square, Aylesbury, is taking steps to support the elderly in their local area.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues the elderly are being asked to stay at home where possible.

This is impacting their ability to get supplies and food, especially ones without family of neighbours they know.

The current outbreak has also meant some people are stockpiling, resulting in weekly shops for the elderly being made difficult.

A fundraising page has been set up where people can donate money, but the pharmacy are also accepting donations of some foods and household supplies at Lloyds Pharmacy in Jansel Square, Bedgrove HP21 7ET instead.

Natalie from the pharmacy explains why she decided to do this:

"These people don't know what to do to help themselves. I'm just trying to alleviate the panic and the pressure they're under because they're running out of food. They don't know their neighbours, they don't know their neighbours, they're isolated or they can't walk very far.

If people have brought too much and they take that moment to look in their cupboards and think 'Actually I've gone a bot overboard here' please find it in your heart to bring it down. We will gratefully receive it we will not judge anybody."

Other companies around Buckinghamshire are setting up similar schemes to help.

Enterprise Waste Management providing collection and deliveries of food and medicine within Aylesbury and surrounding areas.
