Aylesbury theatre wants people to embrace the arts

An Aylesbury theatre has launched a campaign to encourage people to embrace the arts.

Queen Park Arts Centre in Aylesbury wants people to "Live Creatively" as it launches a campaign to increase engagement with the arts.

During the coronavirus pandemic people have been told they must stay at home and the Aylesbury theatre group is looking to encourage the arts in peoples lives.

They want people to take part in an artist activity, it could be painting, drawing pottery etc, and share images and videos online.

The group want #LiveCreativelyQPAC to be filled with creative ways of embracing the arts at home during this difficult time.

Dario Knight is from the theatre group and told Mix96 its not about being a great artist:

"Creativity has nothing to do with qualifications. It's to do with having a go.

"You don't have to be starting a great novel, writing a diary or just writing out silly words and phrases are a form of creativity so don't be scared of taking part.

"It's really important. I know something we can lose track of so quickly is how important being artist or any type of creative activity is.

"It does a huge amount for you emotional well being, which is something everyone needs to look after at the moment."

Queens Park's 500 Words Challenge remains open for young writers to pen brand new short stories, and the submission window has been extended to Sunday 5th July to give aspiring authors time to pen or type their tales.

Anyone wishing to join the campaign can send their content to info@qpc.org or post online.

People can tag the Queens Park Arts Centre's social media accounts, for example on twitter it is @queensparkarts as well as using the #LiveCreativelyQPAC hashtag.
