Aylesbury Vale gin company to make hand sanitiser

An Aylesbury Vale gin company is starting to manufacturer hand sanitiser.

HONEST Blends in Quainton, Aylesbury Vale, usually makes tea, coffee, candles and gin but now they are moving to a new product.

Alcohol hand sanitiser is being made in place of their usual products as demand surged for the gel caused a shortfall for many.

NHS workers, employers and even households were unable to buy the item and the local business saw a chance to help.

Sold at cost, the anti-bacterial has been made to World Health Organisation standard, in fact it has an 80% alcohol content where many have only 60%.

Dee explained that they want to support all key workers:

"We are expanding it beyond NHS workers. Everybody we can think of... Care homes, police officers, farmers, delivery drivers... We are putting it out there to support anyone who is having to go out to support the unusual environment we are living it, it is there for them as well."

The product will also be available to the public, however stock is limited to 2 per person.

HONEST Blends were given the license to de-nature their alcohol, a step needed to create the gel, and expect the product to be ready to send out in the next week.

Since announcing the decision they have received a lot of thanks from local people and key workers, however Dee says she is just trying to help:

"In actual fact we feel like we don't deserve the thanks. It should be going to the essential workers who are still going out 24/7 on the front line as it were."
