Bucks man does his bit for NHS staff

A man from Buckinghamshire was so moved seeing NHS staff struggling to get their groceries, he just had to act.

Colin Campsie was having coffee last Friday when he saw the social media video from a critical care nurse in Yorkshire, Dawn Bilbrough.

She was in tears after finishing a 48 hour shift to find there was no food left in her local supermarket. Colin messaged his friends and collectively they decided to do something to help their local BHT NHS staff.

In an incredibly short amount of time the group raised £1,500 and with this bought a fresh fruit and vegetables, with help from The Cape restaurant in Beaconsfield, for critical frontline NHS staff at the Trust.

On Tuesday 24 March, Colin, with help from his friend delivered, all of the produce to Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospitals.

The food was then distributed to staff in frontline roles across the two sites.

Charlotte Young, Head of Nursing for Surgery & Critical Care said:

"We were absolutely blown away by this incredible act of kindness from Colin and his friends.

"A simple thank you doesn't feel like it would ever be enough!"

Neil Macdonald, Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust said:

"This really was an amazing gesture and our staff are very grateful for the support from the local community during this difficult time."
