Bucks libraries increase e-resources during pandemic

Buckinghamshire libraries have updated their e-resources during the coronavirus outbreak.

Libraries across Buckinghamshire have closed to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, but they want local people to know that doesnt mean no reading.

They are adapting to the situation and want people to know they can still access a range of educational or entertainment books, magazines and newspapers online.

They have also waived all fines and fees during the closure, and extended all loan periods of hard copy books until June.

Members can access items like eBooks and newspapers online and Buckinghamshire libraries are working to make it quicker and easier to join online if you are not already a member.

Gareth Williams is Buckinghamshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health said:

"I'm so proud of the way our library service has already adapted to start helping our communities through this crisis. We already have a full online service in place so this is the ideal time to check it out! Books, study resources, your favourite magazine or daily newspaper - you can still get it all online through the library service.

We are working hard on making it easy to join up online so keep checking back with us. I do hope as many people as possible can find some solace in reading and using our library service online as we all stay home."

Information of joining and how to access online resources can be found on their website.

Buckinghamshire Council also wants people to know that there as some changes to other local services, including access to country parks which are now closed.

Residents are being asked to regularly check the new Buckinghamshire Council website for up to date information on services.
