New council takes over in Bucks

Today our five main councils in Buckinghamshire have merged into one.

Buckinghamshire Council has taken over from the four districts and one county council and is running all services under one name.

Very little should change day-to-day, as today marks the legal name change and some new signage in places.

Over time, we will see the new branding appear in places like bus stops, car parks and on our wheelie bins.

The change does come at a strange time, with the message of 'not much will change' seeming odd when many services have been disrupted because of the current pandemic.

You can find the latest on what is different over on the new council's website.

Today marks the end of over 40 years of our district councils - AVDC, Wycombe, Chiltern & South Bucks - and over 130 years of the County Council.
