Supermarket donating 3,500 Easter eggs to Bucks charities

Buckinghamshire charities will be getting some sweet treats from Aldi over the next week.

From 2nd - 11th April, the supermarket is donating 50 Easter eggs per store each day to local charities and food banks in Buckinghamshire that support vulnerable families and children.

This includes Aylesbury Vineyard Church, which redistributes supplies to those most in need across the region.

The supermarket will donate almost half a million chocolate eggs in total to good causes throughout the UK.

The donations form part of Aldi's ongoing partnership with community engagement platform, Neighbourly, which sees all of Aldi's more than 70 stores in the region donate surplus food to local charities and community groups at the end of each day.

Last year, the supermarket helped to donate more than 4 million meals to charities across the UK.

Fritz Walleczek, Managing Director of Corporate Responsibility at Aldi UK and Ireland, said:

"We're always looking for new and creative ways to increase the amount of food that we're able to donate.

"Working with Neighbourly to donate Easter eggs to different groups and charities across the nation is a great way for us to bring a festive treat this Easter."

Steve Butterworth, Neighbourly CEO said:

"We're grateful to be able to partner with Aldi on this project and proud to support them in their ongoing commitment to reduce food waste and make a positive difference to the communities where they operate at this particularly difficult time".
