Bucks Council launches new campaign showcasing community support

Buckinghamshire Council has announced a campaign to highlight the community supporting being shown.

#ProudofBucks has been launched by Buckinghamshire council to showcase the support being provide for people across the county.

The campaign will highlight work being done by the NHS, council staff, voluntary groups, businesses, partners and the public.

The work being done by these groups is helping to protect and support people curing the coronavirus pandemic.

Groups and organisations can share the work they are doing through the Community Support Hub page on the councils website or by posting on social media with the '#ProudofBucks'.

Cllr Martin Tett, Leader of Buckinghamshire Council, commented:

"I'm very proud of all the great work that our community is doing during these difficult and challenging times. I'm also pleased that Buckinghamshire Council - despite only launching six days ago - has been able to create an online Community Support Hub which residents can use to find local help or to contact organisations that are looking for volunteers.

"If you do get involved in any Buckinghamshire community work related to the coronavirus outbreak, then please let us know by tagging your social media posts with #ProudofBucks."

One example of communities coming together during this time is Risborough Basket, run by Princes Risborough Town Council, the Active Community Bus and local volunteers.

It offers free delivery of groceries from the town's shops to all residents in Princes Risborough, with over 500 deliveries so far.

Local Councillor Alan Turner is helping with the scheme:

"The idea behind The Risborough Basket scheme is to keep those vulnerable members of our community and others who are self-isolating stocked with fresh fruit & veg, whilst also helping to keep our local small retailers going by delivering their sales as well.

"We know that Risborough isn't alone in the amazing community spirit. Just for our operation we have in the region of 85 volunteers. That is quite an achievement for a small place.

"I'd just like to say I am extremely proud of all the volunteers who have offered their services and do a grand job. Not just here, but across the county its been a marvelous effort."
