Local coffee company focusing on online sales

Redemption Coffee has been forced to focus on online sales as the lockdown affects their business.

As the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus continues, businesses across the country are having to adjust the way they work, including here in Aylesbury.

Redemption Roasters is a coffee company with a difference, they give a second chance to offenders in prison through their roastery in HMP The Mount.

This is also done through their barista schemes, one of which operates at HMP Spring Hill in Aylesbury.

Ted Rosner is co-founder of the company explains why they are looking to the online portion of their business:

"Given that we cant operate cafes, can't sell coffee to our clients and can't run our prison academies it was kind of a process of elimination. What can we focus on?"

Many other local and small businesses are in the same position, which Ted explains is something the public should be conscious of:

"Small businesses are much more likely to have low cash reserves and to run their companies tighter than larger companies who are able top absorb time impact of this crisis.

"I would definitely be encouraging people to go an buy from independent business, but that is something I would always encourage people to do."

Redemption Roasters are just one business including in a new online marketplace which has been launched to showcase independent businesses who are still open.

It's hoped this site will help smaller companies continue trading and help them survive the crisis.
