Bucks MP's spending in election revealed

The spending of candidates in December's local elections has been shared. 

The Electoral Commission has created an online tool that allows user to see and compare the spending in the 2019 General Election. 

Including spending for Buckinghamshire candidates, people can view how much was spent in a range of categories.

Users of the online tool can also look at the candidates who spent the most across all constituents and either lost or won their seat.

The Electoral Commission have launched the tool to provide greater transparency into how candidates spent money to influence voters.

Aylesbury's MP Rob Butler provided this comment on the spending tool:

"Publication of expenses is an important part of the public scrutiny of the electoral process, and in keeping with my commitment to local voters to be accountable."

While Buckingham MP Greg Smith said:

"The reporting of spending at elections is an important part of ensuring transparency in politics."
