Bucks residents finding creative ways to raise money

People across the country are finding new ways to raise money during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week Captain Tom Moore captured the nation with his fundraising efforts and people in Buckinghamshire are joining in with his creative fundraising.

Kayleigh Allwright, a teacher from Aylesbury, has decided to take on a virtual cycling challenge to raise money for Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust.

On her exercise bike she will be travelling the distance between John O' Groats in Scotland to Lands End in Oakham, which is 1407km, in just under a month.

Meanwhile, Sue Robinson has taken inspiration from Margaret Payne, a 90 year old woman in Scotland climbing her staircase to the height of a local mountain.

Sue has decided to do 100 trips up and down the stairs, which may seem easy enough but last month she underwent surgery for a knee replacement.

She told Mix96 about the challenge which is raising money for NHS Charities Together:

"Today I had to do it twice, which is a huge milestone for me, because I forgot my phone and I wanted to take a picture from the top to prove I'm doing it.

"I couldn't even do one step a week ago.

"But it's just a little bit to help some good causes and its keeping me occupied. We are all in lockdown so I can't go anywhere so I'm just trying to do some good and help myself with my knee as well."
