A global catering business has turned its hand to feeding key workers during the pandemic.

Global Infusion Group (GIG) whose base is in Buckinghamshire are now supporting 15 sites across the county.

They are providing over 1,000 meals a day, each individually packaged and cooked with social distancing measures followed.

Bonnie May is from the company:

"The food is the easy bit. The challenge has been to quickly and strategically plan how to keep the team safe, from the delivery drivers and chefs to the front-facing teams serving lunch to 500 people.

"We are used to problem solving and mobilising quickly, so we were 90% there on day one and have made tweaks quickly to get it 100% right."

The GIG team haven't been immune to struggles due to the pandemic though.

Events they were due to work, like Glastonbury, have been cancelled and they have had to make redundancies and furloughs.

However, Bonnie is determined the team stay positive and focused on the good they can do:

"I think all of us have probably taken the NHS for granted. Certainly the phrase we have used here it 'We've been serving the stars all these years now is our chance to feed the superstars.'

"Almost daily we get an email back of how grateful they are. With the difficulty of shopping it means that when these guys are on the front line taking care of our friends and family they can dedicate this time knowing they have a hot nourishing meal waiting for them when they've finished."

Spreading their support nationally, there is also a team of 22 providing a 24/7 catering service to the Dragon's Heart COVID-19 Hospital in Cardiff.
