Grants available for Aylesbury charities

Many organisations in Buckinghamshire are struggling during the pandemic.

Charities and local groups are being given a helping hand in the form of a grant from Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust.

The trust have set the Coronavirus Support Grant scheme up to help those struggling at the moment.

This could be due to an increase in demand for services, a loss of income or fundraising opportunities or wanting to extend their services using new methods.

Chief Executive of the Trust, Matthew Applegate, says:

"We've been working very hard to ensure our residents have the support they need during the pandemic, but we felt there was more we could do to help the wider community.

"Our Thriving Communities grants have had a positive impact in the Vale, so it seemed an obvious solution to extend the scheme to include a specific grant for community groups that have been adversely impacted by the pandemic."

Grants of up to £4,000 are available to community and voluntary organisations operating in the Vale.

Applications for the grants are reviewed weekly to try and ensure the grants are released as quickly as possible for maximum impact.

The Trust's Communications & Communities Manager, Kate Ayala, is part of the team who will review applications and allocate funding. She says:

"The fund was launched on the Trust's website and social media a week ago, and we immediately started receiving requests for help. It shows just how much this financial support is needed.

"I hope we will be able to support lots of different groups who are making a huge difference in the Vale. I'm looking forward to seeing the diverse applications, and more so to seeing the first grants in action. In my role, I am constantly seeing how working together can really amplify the impact of community services, and providing our Coronavirus support grants is one way we can help make that happen."

Application forms for a Coronavirus Support Grant are available from hello@vaht.co.uk or visit their site for more details on what groups are eligible for funding.
