Chesham man jailed for being equipped for theft

A Chesham man has been jailed for being equipped for theft.

Ryan Gallagher, aged 28 of Alexandra Street Chesham, has been sentenced to 16 weeks’ imprisonment.

Gallagher admitted one count of going equipped for theft in a hearing at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Friday (15/5).

On Thursday 14th May he was seen attempting to gain entry to vehicles in Brockhurst Road in Chesham. 

Officers attended and followed on foot, Gallagher was detained and found in possession of three torches, wearing black gloves and a bandana. 

Designated investigator Hazel Browne, based at Amersham police station, said:

“After Gallagher was witnessed in suspicious circumstances just after 4am last Thursday attempting to access vehicles, our officers responded rapidly and quickly apprehended him.

“They found him in possession of items that clearly showed he was equipped for theft.

“He pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and has now been sentenced to prison by the courts.

“Thames Valley Police will continue to disrupt any kind of criminal activity and will bring offenders to justice, and I am pleased that Gallagher will now serve a prison sentence to reflect on his actions.”
