Help for families of people in prison in the Thames Valley

Families and friends aren't able to visit prisons in Buckinghamshire, as they remain closed due to the current situation.

Thames Valley Partnership runs a project called Family Matters, which is a service that supports family and friends through the challenges they face when a loved on is sent to to prison.

In the days before Covid-19 people could visit prisons on a regular basis, but since they closed telephone contact has become more essential.

The charity has now been successful in applying for additional funding from the Thames Valley Police Property Act fund to help those suffering financially to be able to pay for telephone credit.

Family Matters also has a team of Support Workers who offer support when someone is sentenced,  in custody and if needed, following their release.

If someone you care for is in prison you can find out more about the support available here.
