Rapper apologises for 'totally regrettable' Aylesbury gathering

A rapper who organised a music video shoot in Aylesbury on Friday has apologised, after well over a hundred people showed up.

Sneakbo was criticised for the large gathering on Buckingham Park and then Watermead.

He said on Instagram that it was 'irresponsible and thoughtless' and apologised, calling on fans to following social distancing guidance.

What happened?

On Friday evening, what is reported to be nearing 200 people turned up on Buckingham Park after the rapper said he was coming to Aylesbury to shoot a video.

Police were called out and asked them to move on, because of social distancing rules, but no arrests were made.

TVP said that because the group moved on, no enforcement was needed.

Councillor Anders Christensen said on Tuesday:

"It caused a huge amount of distress and anger for residents on Buckingham Park and it's surprising that anybody would even think to organise such a gathering, when most people are avoiding going out and maintaining social distancing to avoid spreading the coronavirus."

However, a short while later, the group was seen gathered on Watermead instead.

An apology

Now, the London-based rapper has taken to Instagram to apologise for his actions.

In the statement, he says:

"I thought we'd be able to control the situation and keep everyone safe.

"I now realise how irresponsible and thoughtless that was and want to apologise for this totally regrettable episode."

Sneakbo adds that we all need to follow social distancing guidelines and stay safe after 'the huge sacrifices' made by everyone over the last few months.

He finishes by saying it won't happen again.
