50,000 meals have been delivered to NHS staff in Buckinghamshire from a TV chef and his team.

On Tuesday 26 May, 2 star Michelin chef Tom Kerridge, Andy Agar and Chris Hughes visited both Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospitals and delivered their 50,000th meal to Trust staff, as part of Meals from Marlow.

Tom personally served Debra, a nurse from our Stroke Unit at Wycombe Hospital, the 50,000th meal and the team also delivered meals to staff at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

The generosity from the local community to support this initiative has allowed staff at the Trust to not worry about cooking after long shifts delivering care.

Tom, Andy and Chris launched Meals from Marlow on 3 April, not long after lockdown started in the UK, and they have already raised over £170,000 and served over 45,000 meals to local NHS staff and vulnerable people in the local community.

Trust Chief Executive Neil Macdonald said:

"Meals from Marlow is a great initiative and a wonderful example of a community pulling together to support a cause and those in need.

"I'd like to say thank you to the team on behalf of everyone at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. These meals have made such a difference to staff who are working long hours caring for some of our sickest patients."

Tom Kerridge said:

"We set up the initiative as the three of us wanted to support frontline NHS staff working in local hospitals during the pandemic and those in need within the community surrounding Marlow.

"People realise that as well as looking after our own neighbours, the front line is in the big hospitals where NHS teams are doing astonishing work."

Meals from Marlow have been providing meals for NHS workers at Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospitals.
