'Support the Bucks businesses which have supported us'

It is hoped Buckinghamshire companies which weren't supported before now will be by new grants.

Buckinghamshire Business First are helping employers access help - both financial and practical - and new grants to help with recovery are now on offer.

The cash comes from the Buckinghamshire Recovery Investment Fund, with grants between £3,000 and £120,000.

Philippa Batting, from BBF, said:

"These support businesses with project around recovery, bringing their workforce back in, innovation, new products and building the resilience of their organisation moving forward."

Job / Office / Work

Throughout the outbreak, BBF have been helping businesses access grants and support in a fast-changing landscape of government support.

Part of that has been keeping the tourism and hospitality sector afloat, including grants from Buckinghamshire Council.

Philippa told us this hasn't just been about money:

"We are running tourism and hospitality 'power hours' which is one-to-one mentoring with hospitality experts to talk through options with what is available.

"This is a sector which is really hard hit by social distancing, which even as we open up, that is going to be very hard to make some of these businesses pay with the level of social distancing required."

She added that practical support and advice is crucial, with companies helping each other out with advice and guidance to make sure employers are not going through this on their own.

Philippa says it's not just about government support or the help they offer - it's about us as well:

"We need to support our local tourism and hospitality businesses, we need to support our local retail, we need to support our local high streets and that community spirit which we have all participated in over the last nine weeks, we need to keep that going and support he businesses that have supported us."
