Coronavirus cases pass 1,000 in Bucks

Coronavirus cases pass 1,000 in Bucks

Eight more cases of coronavirus have been reported in Buckinghamshire, taking the total to over 1,000.

Public Health England figures show that 1,005 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Sunday morning (May 31) in Buckinghamshire>

That is:

  • up from 997 the same time on Thursday.
  • up from 983 cases a week before

It means cases have increased by 1% over the weekend, lower than the rate of increase across the UK of 2%.

The number of people who have died with COVID-19 in Bucks Healthcare NHS Trust hospitals is now 117. 

This is a rise of 4 on Friday's total. 

Figures released last week by the Office for National Statistics put deaths in hospitals in Buckinghamshire at 188, although this may include non-Trust sites.

This data also showed how many people in each local area had passed away with coronavirus.

They were among the 21,597 cases recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 192 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 274,762 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Sunday, up from 269,127 at the same point on Thursday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show.

As of 5pm on Saturday, 38,489 had died.
