Video classes launched to keep Aylesbury creative

An Aylesbury arts centre has launched new online workshops.

Queens Park Arts Centre is now offering online workshops on a range of creative activities.

Although the centre remains closed these Zoom sessions mean previous students can still enjoy classes and new students can pick something that interests them.

The workshops are running through June and include pottery, crochet and watercolour painting.

Students can choose from a one off class to longer 4 week classes and introduction classes are available.

Speaking about the launch for the new programme, Queens Park's Artistic Director Sarah Lewis says:

"Having launched our #LiveCreativelyQPAC campaign to celebrate and support creativity during lockdown, we're delighted to be bringing these new digital workshops to students; it's a fantastic opportunity to connect with familiar QPAC faces and brand new attendees."

"In addition to the classes, the Centre will be trialing a 'Click & Collect' service for some workshops so that students can purchase art materials to use in the class. This will be run via a pop-up stall in the company's carpark and will be operated under social distancing guidelines, with collection slots booked in advance.

"We appreciate our wonderful community of students, tutors, staff and volunteers are keen to return to the Centre as soon as they can, however we want to ensure that as we move towards reopening the Centre we do so in a sensible and safe way, There'll be a lot of adapting for us to do, but Queens Park will be back; in the meantime our online offer is a perfect way of ensuring the Centre's artistic spirit remains the hub, heart and home of the local cultural landscape."

More classes are planned for the summer, with the hope of engaging students of all ages.
