Aylesbury to hold Black Lives Matter march

Following a peaceful demonstration on Thursday another event is planned.

Aylesbury will join with people across the country today for a Black Lives Matter march.

Departing from the Watermead Inn at 1.30pm, people are being urged by organisers to respect social distancing.

'Together We Will Rise' protest seem to have been organised across the UK and follow demonstrations sparked by the death of George Floyd in the US.

The 46 year old man died in police custody after being knelt on for nearly 9 minutes. He had been arrested on suspicion of using a fake $20 bank note.

Kneel ins, marches and other demonstrations began calling for justice for George Floyd but also for an end to racism. Some of these protest resulted in violence.

However, the organisers of today's protest are urging people to remain peaceful and respect social distancing.

This is not the first protest in Aylesbury with a peaceful kneel in taking place at Vale Park on Thursday.

Around 70 people joined in the silent event with many kneeling, a sign now recognised as a peaceful protest.

The organisers of the march have called for social distancing to be respected, attendees to wear masks and say there will be first aiders and stewards there.
