'Big plans' for future of Risborough delivery scheme

A home-delivery scheme to support local shops in Princes Risborough as been so successful, it will continue as lockdown eases.

Risborough Basket was set up to support the high street through volunteer deliveries and has far surpassed the Town Council's expectations.

In an update on Facebook, Mayor Matthew Walsh and Councillor Alan Turner said:

"Armed with two mobile phones, some pens & pads we quickly had to streamline our IT & logistics and with the support of our truly brilliant staff & volunteers, at our peak were processing over 100 orders a day!"

They say today (Friday) is the last day for fruit and veg deliveries, as many volunteers are returning to work.

If there is a 'second wave' and lockdown is brought back, the hope is this service could return.

The councillor continued:

"The great news is that The Risborough Basket will continue with deliveries for our local shops and services, so please do keep supporting our local independent businesses.

"We also have big and exciting plans for the future of The Risborough Basket which we look forward to sharing with you soon!

"In the meantime, our final thanks has to go to our amazing volunteers “The Basketeers”, all of whom have shown true community spirit and kindness in these unprecedented times. "
