Nearly 400 coronavirus-related deaths in Bucks

Seven more people have died with coronavirus in Buckinghamshire.

The latest weekly figures are out, as we hear that there are concerns over how Public Health England records covid-19 deaths.

Deaths with the virus here now stand at 398 in Buckinghamshire, up by seven on last week's numbers.

We have seen six weeks of single-figure rises in fatalities now: three, five, two, seven and five in the previous weeks.

These numbers are for deaths up until 10th July, but registered up until 18th July.

So far in 2020 in Buckinghamshire:

  • 224 have died in hospital - up by 5 on the week before
  • 157 care home residents have been lost - up by two on last week
  • 2 deaths happened in a hospice
  • 11 people passed away at home
  • 4 deaths happened in 'other communal establishments'

These numbers, particularly hospital deaths, differ to those we get each day, as those are from hospital trust, whilst the ONS are for local authority level.

Overall in Buckinghamshire this year, 2,757 people have died.

This means 14.4% of deaths registered in 2020 have Covid-19 on the death certificate.
