Two Buckinghamshire groups are working to support the areas digitalisation.

Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership (Bucks LEP) has partnered with Bucks Business First (BBF) to look at the digitalisation of businesses in the area.

They will be examining the opportunities but also the challenges that will be faced as part of the Inno Industry Project (IIP)

Buckinghamshire Business First successful bid to become the UK lead on this over a year ago.

Jack Douglass from Bucks LEP explains:

"We're having a look at all of the best processes and practices that are available across Europe at the moment for how we can ensure businesses digitalise and make use of Industry 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution.

"We will also have a look at what Buckinghamshire looks like as a place as we look at the digital version of Buckinghamshire over the coming decades. And how we need to ensure digital infrastructure is included in our major transport and infrastructure projects coming up. So that businesses and even residents when they move into a new home or building have digital access from day one."

The project will continue over the next two years to establish more international best practices and has become more important now as businesses look to adapt their methods of working following the effects of COVID-19.

IIP is also looking to create a blueprint of best practices so businesses can be supported in clusters to take up new digital technologies, such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.

The project partners also aim to improve local, regional and national policies in order to increase the rate of clusters that develop activities to support digital transformation.

Jack say this is the perfect time to look at this:

"With the COVID-19 outbreak more and more of our businesses are looking towards digital means to support their staff or to innovate new solutions for their customers and to access new customer bases."
