Buckingshire Man Sentenced For Sex Attack on Teen

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 4:41pm 24th June 2011.

A 23 year-old Buckinghamshire man has been sent to jail for 3 years - after admitting sexually assaulting a 16 year-old girl.

Joseph Ayres from Booker Lane in Wycombe was found guilty of a serious sexual assault on the teenager in April.

At Aylesbury Crown Court, Ayres pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to three years and nine months imprisonment.

On 3 April 2011, Ayres got talking to a 16 year-old girl as she walked home along Desborough Road, High Wycombe, in the early hours of the morning.

He took her to a sheltered place between two parked cars and sexually assaulted her.

In his summing up, Judge Sheridan noted the attack was cowardly and Ayres was very rough and hurt the victim during the attack. He also commended the actions of two witnesses who came to the assistance of the victim.

As well as the prison sentence, Ayres will be banned from working with children for 10 years and be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Det Con Dave Cannon, who investigated the incident told Mix96 "As the judge stated, this was a cowardly and serious physical and sexual attack on a vulnerable 16 year-old girl as she walked home.

“I am pleased Ayres will spend a few years in prison, and remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life. I would also like to commend the bravery of the victim in this case as well as the witnesses who helped her after the attack."
