Tonne of Tins

No-one should require the needs of a Foodbank, but the reality is, a lot of people here in Bucks are relying on them.  More than ever before in fact.

We recently reported that for the first time ever Aylesbury Foodbank gave out more food than was donated to them

So Mix96 decided to get involved, we're launching our Tonne Of Tins Appeal to try and make sure that when people need it the most, they can feed their families.

How do I donate to Mix96's Tonne Of Tins?

It's really easy to help, all you need to do is deliver your donation, however big, to Mix96.  The address is Mix96, 11 Bourbon Street, Aylesbury, Bucks HP22 2PZ between 6am and 6pm weekdays and 8am-midday at the weekends.   We'll weigh your donation to add it to our total.

Can I donate anywhere else?

Yes!  Our friends at Perrys are supporting the appeal - you can take your donations there too: Bicester Road, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP19 8BY.

Did you know?

During the school holidays demand for food banks increases.  For some families who receive free school meals the long summer break can be an unwanted financial stress so this summer we've launched our appeal to collect a tonne of food to help.

Our local food banks provide food to people in food crisis but only provide supplies to those who have  proven their genuine need and who are being helped by an organisation to overcome that crisis.

What should I donate?

All of our food banks will accept any long life products.  All tinned goods fall in to this category.  Some of the most in demand foods include:-

  • Tinned Fruit
  • Tinned Meat
  • Tinned Vegetables
  • Sponge Puddings
  • Rice Pudding
  • Custard

Where will the food go?

We're working with two food banks and your donations will be split between them.  The food banks that we're supporting are Aylesbury Foodbank (run by the Trussel Trust) and Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse (partnered with Aylesbury Vineyard Church).

We'll be collecting until mid-September.
