This week: Pool refurb, mum's amazing fundraising & landmark restored

A mum from Tring has raised £7,000 for the cancer unit treating her son this week.

We also heard the story of a trangender woman from Aylesbury, who wants to support others and a Bucks landmark was restored.

The story which got most people talking was this one:

News Aqua Vale is getting a refurb got a lot of reaction!

Aylesbury's leisure centre is getting a bit of a refresh, including new showers, loos and disabled facilities.

£500,000 is being spent on Aqua Vale, in a phased project lasting until May.

The refurbishment project will see customers enjoy 'a number of enhancements' including improved changing facilities and aesthetic updates.

The news got quite a big reaction on our Facebook page - many aren't impressed still:

Claire Boulter's little boy is undergoing cancer treatment

A mum from Tring has done something incredible, as she deals with her four-year-old boy going through cancer treatment.

Claire Boulter ran a 5-mile run for the Oxford Children's Hospital at the weekend.

It is the unit where Sebastian is being treated for Accute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.

Her £150 target has been smashed and it's sitting at over £7,400.

She said:

"We took him to A&E at Stoke Mandeville and after a chest X-Ray they found a large tumour in his chest.

"My husband said the sound which erupted out of my mouth was like something out of a horror film."

Marteene Pringle

After dealing with hate crime herself, a transgender woman from Aylesbury is encouraging others to report it.

Marteene says there are hundreds of trans people in the Vale, but many are too scared to come out.

She has shared her story with us, to try and give hope to others.

After coming out, at first to her daughter and eventually to work colleagues, Marteene says so much has changed:

"Before I was very much in a shell.

"I would talk to people, but I didn't have many friends.

"The minute I came out and started speaking to people, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

"Yes, I was scared, because you don't know how people are going to react. But 99% of people are fine."

After over five years missing from the Aylesbury Vale skyline, Quainton's windmill is being restored.

Earlier this week, the sails are being put back onto the 187-year-old building after years in the planning.

They had to be removed, after severe rotting.

This week, Ben & Nia were out at Tesco Tring Road, collecting more treats which will be sent to local charities.

As you can see, Ben got excited he could use the tannoy... again.
